Daniel W. Hurson

Daniel W. Hurson (Dan) serves as an Assistant Attorney General for the Maryland Energy Administration and the Power Plant Research Program of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. Dan received his Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University and his Juris Doctorate degree, with honors, from the University of Houston Law Center. Prior to his current position, Dan was a partner in a family-owned litigation practice, and an associate for a large international law firm. For nearly ten years, Dan has provided his clients with advice and counsel regarding a variety of environmental and energy business, litigation and regulatory matters. Dan also regularly appears before Maryland regulatory officials on behalf of his clients. Dan lives in the Annapolis, Maryland area with his wife Colleen, also an attorney, and children Danny and Owen. In his free time, Dan enjoys spending time with his family, and kayaking and boating on the creeks and rivers of the Chesapeake Bay. View Guest page

Andy co-founded the company in 1987 and has been involved in the renewable energy industry for over 25 years. He has traveled to 70 countries promoting and developing distributors for small scale renewables. Andy has written numerous marketing and technical articles on renewable energy and received a number of awards with the most recent being “National Exporter of the Year” by the Small Business Association and “Small Wind Advocate of the Year for 2009” by The AWEA. Scott Sklar

Scott Sklar runs The Stella Group, Ltd,, founded in 2000 which facilitates clean distributed energy specializing on blending renewable and efficiency technologies and financing for projects as well as promoting government polices to expand markets. Previously, Sklar served concurrently as Executive Director for 15 years of two national trade associations of solar and bioenergy industries. Sklar started his energy career serving for nine years as a military and energy aide to Senator Jacob K Javits (NY), and cofounded the Congressional Solar Caucus in the mid-1970’s where most of the renewable energy legislation first was passed by the US Congress as a result of the first and second oil embargos. He serves as Steering Committee Chairman of the Sustainable Energy Coalition, composed of the 20+ national industry, advocacy groups, think tanks, and environmental groups. Sklar has coauthored two books, “The Forbidden Fuel: A History of Power Alcohol just updated and re-released in 2010, and a “Consumer Guide to Solar Energy” in its third publishing. . On November 4, 2010 Secretary Locke approved Sklar’s appointment to the Department of Commerce Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Advisory Committee (RE&EEAC). Sklar is also an Adjunct Professor at the George Washington University (GWU) teaching a unique multidisciplinary course on sustainable energy. He lives in a solar home, has a zero-energy office building in Virginia and a unique solar system on his Washington, DC office.
